This cycle DAMA-I is seeking Chapter nominees for election:

President/Chairman of the board/CEO;
-
VP Member Services and
-
VP Online Services.
Each will serve a term of three years beginning 01 January 2024 and ending 31 December 2026. Check https://www.dama.org/cpages/dama-international-bylaws for descriptions to see which you are best qualified.
The Board currently is a “working board” which means that its members both govern the organization and staff its operations. Expect to participate in growing the size and influence of the organization and, eventually, help transition to a strategic governing board that oversees a staff-led organization.
However, there are requirements to be eligible for nomination by a Chapter, at a minimum, the by-laws (in Section 3.6.1) state:

Nominees must be a member of DAMA-I (either as a Central Member OR a Chapter member);

Nominees must have served one full term as a current or former Director of DAMA-I, a Chapter board member, OR as a board member of another not-for-profit organization or professional association.

Nominees for President must have served at least one full term in another position on the DAMA-I Board.
The by-laws also set these specific LIMITS on nominations (see Section 3.6.1 and 3.6.2):

The DAMA-I Board has term limits. No Director can serve more than two consecutive terms in one position. A Director at the end of a second consecutive term in any position is not eligible for reelection to a third term in that position but can be nominated for another position.

No nominee can accept nomination for more than one open position in any election.

No Director can hold more than one position on the Board concurrently.

No more than two (2) Directors from the same Chapter may serve on the Board concurrently;

No more than two (2) Directors employed by the same company may serve on the Board concurrently.

Any Director who accepts the nomination for a different position serves in that position until the end of the calendar year.
A near-record number of Chapters are eligible to participate this year – 53! That's fifty-three Chapters that may nominate candidates for election to the DAMA-I Board.
Particularly welcome are nominations of those who not only meet the minimum eligibility requirements but would bring any of the following additional knowledge, skills, and experience to the Board and enhance its global reach:

Significant experience with other non-profit organizations or professional associations that can inform their service on the DAMA-I Board.

Strong financial acumen including an understanding of budgets and financial reporting.

Experience working with, and possession of, a personally owned, secure computer or tablet that can run modern tools for collaboration including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint, and basic literacy in using those tools.

An understanding of global security and privacy rules around acquisition, storage and management of personally identifiable information and a commitment to adhering to the DAMA-I Code of Ethics and privacy rules.

An understanding of the importance of securing the organization’s resources, including protecting and enforcing its intellectual property rights globally (copyrights and trademarks).

Time to devote to the work of the Board and the flexibility in use of time required to participate effectively in a global organization. The time commitment Board service requires varies with the position responsibilities but averages at least fifteen hours a month.

CDMP certification or equivalent knowledge of data management gained from academic training or work experience.

Membership in a Chapter outside of North America.

To bring new voices to the board, chapters are encouraged to nominate people who have not previously served on the DAMA-I board.
