The DAMA International voice is increasingly recognized globally as we push for competent oversight, security, the preservation of humanity’s records, and a commitment to quality and ethical thinking. This drive is propelling the DAMA DMBOK, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), and DAMA-International into the global spotlight, with a new generation eager to engage with the DAMA community. DAMA was founded 44 years ago, during a different era and at a different scale. Our bylaws must adapt to our growth and the changing environment. We require a DAMA that connects with its members and chapters both globally and locally, fostering participation across various countries and cultures.
The pivotal change facilitated through the new by-laws is designed to enhance transparency, engagement, and strategic direction within our organization and the global data management community. It promotes equity, inclusion, and democracy, ensuring our bylaws reflect our growth and evolving landscape.
We have established a dedicated website to communicate the details of our new governance arrangement. This platform is designed to keep DAMA International Members well-informed and involved with the transformative changes we are making.
The changes directly impact you. DAMA International Individual Central Members (called Individual Professional Members in the new by-laws) have gained new roles and responsibilities, reflecting the increased emphasis on individual contributions to the organization’s governance. Where under the previous by-laws, Individual Central Members were unable to nominate and vote for board positions, under the new by-laws, Individual Professional Members are eligible for election as an Officer or Director of DAMA-I and can nominate and vote for the President and five at Large Directors.
We invite you to visit the site and explore the available resources. Your feedback and engagement are vital as we move forward together.
