About Certification

Professional certification is an indication of knowledge, skills, and experience. 

DAMA International has developed the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designation to provide Data Management professionals with an objective method to demonstrate a significant level of data management knowledge, as well as to enhance their professional and career development.

Step 4 Earn: Take your exam and earn your certification. DAMA International offers Online Proctored CDMP® Exams. You will receive a digital badge which serves as digital proof of your competencies and offers easy and instant verification from the dedicated digital credential page. Third parties can easily verify a candidate’s abilities and gain a deeper understanding of their held knowledge and skills.

CDMP® Maintenance

The certification maintenance program is for all those who have obtained credentials since 2019. Initial CDMP® certification is for three years, after which all certification holders must meet the following requirements to keep their certification valid:

  • Pay the CDMP® maintenance fee every year.
  • Submit the Data Management Activity Attestation Form annually.

DAMA-I believes in continuous improvement for those who hold the globally respected CDMP® certification. All Certification holders will need to attest to their continued data management activities and, upon request, provide details on their activities.

  • Sign the current version of the DAMA International Code of Ethics.

The Code of Ethics demonstrates DAMA's values for professionalism, and affirmation of your accountability to uphold DAMA's standards is required. Check that you have signed the current version. If you are unable to fill out the online form, you may access the PDF version. Please note that by using the PDF, it could cause a delay in your renewal.
 

Policy Changes

Effective 01 January 2025, DAMA International no longer requires CDMP holders to maintain DAMA International membership to renew their certification. Additionally, DAMA International no longer offers free one-year membership to new CDMP holders. However, CDMP holders will have the option to purchase a DAMA International membership at the time of renewal or at any time before the three-year renewal period.

DAMA International membership provides benefits including the ability to nominate and vote for members of the DAMA International Board of Directors, as well as access to discounts on various products and services.
