Our Value Statement

DAMA International® (DAMA-I) is a vendor neutral association of data professionals that has Member Chapters and Individual Professional Members from more than 60 countries worldwide. The Board of Directors, which currently includes members from Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the United States, adopted the following statement at its recent meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, affirming DAMA-I’s values:
As an organization, DAMA-I values the free flow of ideas, goods and services across borders. We believe that the participation of individuals from different countries, cultures and professional backgrounds benefits DAMA-I in achieving its purpose of “providing global data citizens a community space for knowledge sharing, recognizing professional achievement, and promoting ethical and effective data practices, resulting in responsible and effective data management worldwide.” To achieve DAMA-I’s purpose, the Board of Directors remains committed, individually and collectively, to ensuring that DAMA-I is an organization and global community that welcomes everyone’s participation, and where all of its members, staff and contractors are treated with dignity and feel respected and valued. To deliver on this commitment, the Board will protect against discrimination, conduct the business of the association in accordance with accepted principles of fundamental fairness, and act at all times in the best interests of DAMA-I and with due regard for the individual and collective interests and needs of its worldwide membership and constituents.
