Fellow Program

DAMA International Fellows Program

The DAMA International® Fellows Program is the highest professional honor conferred by DAMA-I — a lifetime designation recognizing individuals who have made exceptional, sustained contributions to the field of data management and to the DAMA-I community.

A Fellow of DAMA International® is a distinguished professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and excellence in advancing the principles and practice of data management as defined by the DAMA–DMBOK®. Fellows are recognized not only for their expertise, but for the meaningful impact they have made through service, advocacy, mentorship, and dedication to the profession over many years.

Eligibility

Candidates for the Fellows designation must be Individual Professional Members (IPMs) of DAMA-I in good standing with a minimum of ten consecutive years of membership, along with at least ten years of notable professional contributions to data management and a record of significant volunteer service or leadership to DAMA-I or one of its Member Chapters. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Nomination Process

Individual Professional Members (IPMs) or Member Chapters in good standing may nominate an individual who is an IPM for recognition as a DAMA-I Fellow at any time.

Nomination Package:
Each nomination must be submitted through the DAMA-I nomination form which includes a citation (150–200 words) summarizing the nominee’s key achievements. The form also asks for a curriculum vitae or professional résumé highlighting accomplishments in data management, publications, certifications, and leadership roles.

Nominations Accepted From January 1st to March 31st

Candidates must demonstrate broad support within the DAMA-I community by obtaining endorsements that meet the following criteria:

A minimum of three endorsements are required, which may come from any combination of Individual Professional Members (IPMs) or Member Chapters, subject to the conditions below:

Each IPM endorsement counts as one endorsement and requires a signed letter from that individual.

Each Member Chapter endorsement counts as one endorsement and requires a letter confirming the agreement of a majority of that Chapter's board members.

No more than two endorsements may come from the same Chapter or geographic region.

At least two endorsements must come from different Chapters or regions, whether from IPMs based in those regions or from Chapter boards.

Candidates are responsible for independently securing their endorsements. All endorsements must be received by the published nomination deadline of March 31.

Selection

Nominations are reviewed by DAMA-I's Program and Internal Operations Committee (PIOC) and approved by the Board of Directors. To preserve the distinction of this honor, no more than three Fellows may be recognized in any given year.

Recognition

Fellows receive the honorary title Fellow of DAMA International®, permanent inclusion in the official Register of Fellows on the DAMA-I website, formal recognition through DAMA-I social media, a digital badge, and free lifetime Individual Professional Membership.
