Nomination Review Process

Governance & Nominations Committee Review

  • Governance & Nominations Election Sub Committee will verify candidate eligibility based on DAMA-I’s bylaws, governance experience, and skills criteria (including membership in good standing of DAMA-I and required leadership experience).
  • After reviewing all of the nominations, the GNC decides on the candidates to be slated who are included on the election ballot. Persons who are nominated and not slated by the GNC are then afforded the opportunity to petition to be on the ballot.

The committee’s decision is based on the following factors set out in the DAMA-I bylaws and an assessment of the nominees’ relative skills and abilities that would enhance the ability of the Board to govern effectively:

  • Individual diversity
  • Geographic distribution
  • Level of data management interest and activity
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Skills and abilities
  • Language competency
  • Willingness to actively engage with an international organization

Petition Process for Non-Slated Nominees

Persons who are nominated and not slated may petition to be added to the ballot.

  • Petition requirements (Bylaws Article IX, Section 9.3.3):
    • 100+ signatures from Individual Professional Members (IPMs) in good standing, OR
    • Formal endorsements by the Boards of Directors of 10+ DAMA-I Member Chapters in good standing.
    • Petition period: 30 days following notification to unslated nominees.
